Conditional Approvals: Asus, Comtrend (Routers), Husqvarna (robots)
The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau announces that specified ASUS and Comtrend routers and Husqvarna robotic platforms are exempt from the FCC Covered List because the Department of War granted them Conditional Approvals.
What it does The Public Notice updates the Covered List and its accompanying Conditional Approvals appendix. It removes from the practical scope of the Covered List ASUS Computer International’s listed RT, ROG, ROG Strix, TUF Gaming, ExpertWiFi, ZenWiFi, 5G MiFi, repeater, and wireless-access-point product lines; Comtrend Corporation’s GRG-4366u, VG-8043u, PBL-6201, and NL-3131 routers; and Husqvarna AB’s 305v IQ, 310v IQ, 420v IQ, and 440v IQ robotic platforms. The Bureau finds each approval is a “specific determination” that the devices do not pose the relevant U.S. national-security risks.
Who it affects The update affects the named manufacturers, distributors, equipment authorization applicants, test labs, and telecommunications users dealing with the identified devices. It also provides staff guidance for TCBs, test labs, and applicants concerning the revised list.
Why it matters The notice illustrates how Executive Branch Conditional Approvals can create exceptions to broad Covered List categories for foreign-produced routers and advanced robotic devices, while preserving the FCC’s obligation to maintain and update the list.
